The swelling in the appendix is caused after the irritation and inflammation. The small & finger-sized portion of the large intestine has no essential purpose, but it doesn't mean it can't cause any problem.
Treatment for Appendicitis:
• Laparotomy: It is a traditional type of surgery also known by the name of exploratory laparotomy. Using this treatment, the removal of the appendix is done through a single larger incision about 2-3 inches long.
• Laparoscopic Surgery: In this surgical technique, several small tiny cuts in the abdomen are made. A miniature camera and surgical instrument is inserted in the abdomen. The doctor then removes the appendix with the instrument.

The acid reflux can be treated by making some changes in lifestyle. The doctor can advice some antacids to take after meals and at night. If taking medicines doesn't result into positive chances of treating the acid reflux. The GERD Surgery may be recommended by your doctor. Fundoplication is the main surgery that can be performed by the doctor to treat the consistent heartburn. This surgery requires a short period of time to recover.
